Sandro Koch Ordained to the Priesthood

St. Gallen, Switzerland – 6 June 2026

With great joy and gratitude, the Schoenstatt Fathers celebrated the priestly ordination of Sandro Koch, who was ordained on 6 June in the Cathedral of St. Gallen by Bishop Beat Grögli. The ordination marked a significant milestone not only in Sandro’s life but also in the life of the Schoenstatt Family and the local Church.

Originally from Sargans, Switzerland, Sandro Koch belongs to the Schoenstatt Fathers and has been actively serving within the Diocese of St. Gallen. His life journey has been deeply shaped by the spirituality and community life of Schoenstatt, which accompanied and nurtured his vocation over many years.

The ordination celebration brought together family members, friends, fellow Schoenstatt members, parishioners, and guests from different parts of the world. A special feature of the liturgy was the international character of the congregation. Many guests travelled from South America, where Sandro had spent important years of formation and pastoral service. Spanish prayers and songs reflected the global dimension of his vocation and the universal mission of the Church.

Reflecting on the day, Father Sandro expressed deep gratitude and joy. He described the celebration as a beautiful experience of faith and community. Particularly moving for him was the musical accompaniment and the participation of people who had supported him throughout his journey. While recognizing the significance of the priestly ordination, he emphasized that the focus of the celebration was not himself but Christ and the mission of serving God’s people.

Bishop Beat Grögli, who celebrated his first priestly ordination since becoming Bishop of St. Gallen, highlighted the importance of communities such as Schoenstatt in fostering religious vocations. He noted that a priestly vocation grows within a living community of faith and service. The bishop expressed his gratitude for Father Sandro’s willingness to dedicate his life to the service of the Church.

The Schoenstatt Fathers give thanks to God for the gift of Father Sandro’s vocation and priesthood. We entrust his ministry to the Blessed Mother, asking her to guide and protect him as he begins this new chapter of service in the Church.
