As President of the International Presidency, Fr Alexandre Awi Mello was invited to get to know the Schoenstatt Family in Hungary better. Between 29 and 31 May, he held various meetings with the leaders of the Family and took part in important celebrations at the “Shrine of the Hearts Engraved into Each Other”, in Óbudavár. He also visited our confrere, Fr Peter Csermák, our first Hungarian vocation, who works with the Schoenstatt Men’s Youth in the country.
The 7th Course of the Schoenstatt Families’ Federation, whose ideal is “Following your word together towards heaven”, held its first consecration. On Sunday 31 May, the day of Schoenstatt’s Third Historic Milestone and the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, the Hungarian Schoenstatt Family gathered for a grand “Sending Forth Celebration”. There they were able to visit more than 10 marquees to learn more about the communities and the countless projectsdeveloped by the Family: Family Academy, Organic Pedagogy, Kentenich Mini-University, Marriage Course, Movement House in Budapest, etc.
“The vitality of the families in Hungary is truly impressive; they are proudly carrying on the legacy left by Fr Tilmann Beller. The youth are also experiencing a time of development and growth, with various projects, such as the missions, for example,” says Fr Alexandre. “I returned feeling uplifted after seeing such commitment, such strong leaders and so much love for Schoenstatt and Fr. Kentenich.”
