Study seminar: Deepening our Marian charism

Under the auspices of the Bellavista Pastoral Centre in La Florida, Santiago, Chile, a study seminar was held, organised by the Sion Institute. The event brought together 18 participants, including community superiors, priests and students in formation.

Under the title ‘Mary, Companion and Co-worker of Christ: An internal reflection in the light of Mater Populi Fidelis’, the working groups focused on bringing Fr. Joseph Kentenich’s charismatic legacy into dialogue with the current teachings of the Magisterium. The seminar featured various speakers from our community, and also Fr. Juan Francisco Pinilla (Pontifical Catholic University of Chile) and two online presentations that enriched the debate.

A fruitful community exchange

Attendees highlighted the depth and reflective quality of the discussions, which were aimed at providing sound theological criteria and clear pastoral guidance for the community. During the sessions, fundamental concepts were addressed:

  • The image of Mary as Christ’s permanent companion and collaborator in the work of redemption.
  • The scope of the Virgin’s cooperation in the economy of salvation in the light of the document “Mater Populi Fidelis” from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
  • Reflection and discussion on the categories of “mediatrix” and “co-redemptrix” at the heart of the Kentenich charism.
  • The search for an ecclesial praxis in harmony with the faith of the Church and the originality of the Community’s message.

Upcoming publication

The participants highlighted the seminar as a significant moment for communal reflection. The papers and main conclusions of the seminar will be published shortly for the whole Community, thus allowing for a wider dissemination of the fruits of this discernment.

The Sion Institute is grateful for the constant support of the superiors and for the hospitality offered by the Bellavista team in making this academic and spiritual event possible.
